Craig and Caroline Valentine have been operating their bed and breakfast since May 1981. They have lived in Alaska more than 30 years. Their two children, who no longer live at home, grew up helping with the bed and breakfast. Cecilia and her husband live in the Seattle area where both work as engineers. Kit works as a civil engineer and lives in another part of Anchorage.
Craig and Caroline are active in church. Craig rings in the handbell choir, and Caroline directs a children's chime choir and a youth bell choir. Caroline also serves as an organist and choir accompanist. Caroline is active in the local chapter of American Guild of Organists where she is Past Dean and its current secretary.
Craig is a retired civil engineer. Caroline is a retired public school mathematics teacher. She is now a math adjunct at University of Alaska Anchorage.
In the summer both Craig and Caroline enjoy working in their fragrant rose garden. Caroline was in the first Master Gardener class in Anchorage. Their garden was selected to be on Anchorage's Garden Club tour in 1998. The garden was awarded "Best B&B Garden" 2003 Arrington's Bed & Breakfast Journal Book of Lists.
Craig and Caroline are active in the local and state Bed and Breakfast Associations. Craig served as the President of the Anchorage Alaska Bed & Breakfast Association. Caroline currently serves as the Vice-President and is a member of the peer review committee for the local association. She also serves on the state B&B association board and is a member of the state marketing committee, and state standards and ethics committee.
